WSOPE

July 12th 2008

WSOPE stands for World Series Of Poker Europe, which is a sister tournament of the WSOP (World Series Of Poker). The WSOPE is named so because the grand tournament is being taken outside of America for the first time and is being brought to Europe. This event is new, and the first event of its type will be taking place in 2018. This event hopes to attract more players from Europe that previously would not have been keen on travelling outside of Europe to the US to take part in the WSOP. However, don’t succumb to the notion that this event is for Europeans only, as the event is simply being held in Europe and is open to players from all over the world.

The event itself is taking place in London in September in 3 different casinos, which are hosted by London clubs international. The casinos hosting the event are Fifty, in St James's; The Casino at the Empire, Leicester Square; and The Sportsman, on Marble Arch. The event will run from the 18th September till the 3rd October with a buy in of £10,000, which is equivalent to $20,000, therefore making the WSOPE twice as expensive as the standard WSOP main event. The event is expected to attract enough players to create a top prize of £3 million for the winner.

Qualify For The 2008 WSOPE

Just as with any other major event, satellites are being run regularly to offer players with smaller bankrolls the opportunity to qualify for the 2008 WSOPE event. As expected, many of the predominantly European based online poker rooms such as Betfair are offering these satellites in which you can participate in a tournament for a small buy-in for the opportunity to win a £10,000 seat at the WSOPE. So with a bit of luck, you could find yourself sitting at the first WSOPE with some of the top poker pros in the world.
